Competitions

Our monthly competitions include Prints (Monochrome and Color), Digital Monochrome, Digital Color Open, and a Digital Monthly Theme.  The competitions are held on the 4th Wednesday of each month from September through June (excluding holidays).

Members are assigned to competition levels:

A – Beginner to Novice photographers.
AA – Novice to Advanced photographers.
Salon – Professional or highly advanced members.
(A member that has a record 5 acceptances in PSA International Salons or professional photographers, or those earning the majority of their income as a photographer.)
Competition images are graded with points by 3 independent judges who may score an image on a scale of 5-10. In some categories, members may elect to receive comments from the judges. Ribbons are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. When the judging takes place all classes of prints are mixed. We do not break ties during monthly competitions, so multiple awards can be given out in each class. Only during the Annual Competition are ties broken at the discretion of the judges.
