MILFORD PHOTO’S 2021 JURIED PHOTO EXHIBITION

April 12 – 30, 2021

Show us your finest work! Open to all themes, styles, and images of any genre. This is a fantastic opportunity for both emerging and established photographers. This is a way to get your work viewed, promoted, and the chance to receive an award or prize.

Submissions could include, but are not limited to: digital or film photographs, environmental portraiture, landscapes, photos of architecture or cityscapes, portraits, documentary photography, abstract photography, conceptual work, narrative work, still lives, street photographs, color photos, black and white photos, images of nature, long exposure photography, etc. Show us the work you’re most proud of. We want to see you think outside the box of standard clichés, don’t be afraid to take a risk with your submission! For an idea of the jurors’ taste–look to the work of William Eggleston, Stephen Shore, Larry Sultan, Alec Soth, Diane Arbus, Walker Evans, Joel Meyerowitz, Vivian Maier, etc.

All selected images will be displayed on our website, social media, and in a virtual gallery walk-through.

Submission Deadline: March 22 at Midnight, 12:00 EST

Announcement of selected photographers: by April 5

Coastal Center 25th Anniversary Photo Contest Information

To celebrate the 25^th Anniversary of the Coastal Center and as a fundraiser to support our
Center and its programs into the future, we are excited to partner with Milford Photo (https://milfordphoto.com) in a special photography contest highlighting the wildlife, environment, and visitors of the Coastal Center.

The contest is open to all amateur photographers excluding staff and board members of Connecticut Audubon Society.

 Photographs must be taken over the last 25 years at the Coastal Center. This would include the Center Building and grounds such as the marsh observation platform, Long Island Sound observation platform, outer platform, and adjoining sandbar.

Four Categories:

• Birds
• The Environment–Landscapes/Seascapes
• People in Nature
• Youth Photographers for ages 18 and younger

Entry Fee: As part of the 25^th Anniversary fundraising effort, your submission fee provides important support for this truly special nature center and its ongoing efforts in conservation and education.

• $25 fee per photograph submitted for adults (over age 18).
• $10 fee per photograph submitted for Youth Category (ages 18 years and younger).
• Each photographer is limited to a maximum of 5 submissions.

• Please note that submission fees are fully tax-deductible and will support the Coastal Center at Milford Point.

How to Submit Your Photographs:

• Must be high resolution JPEG files
• Please use standard format: Last Name_category_email address_submission(number 1-5 for multiple submissions)

• All submissions must be made no later 3/26/2021

 Awards:

• Each category will award a first, second, and third prize.
• There will be one Grand Prize awarded to one of the first place winners from the four categories.

Prizes
First place winners will receive a $100 store gift certificate to Milford Photo.
Second place winners will receive a $50 store gift certificate to Milford Photo
Third place winners will receive a $25 store gift certificate to Milford Photo.

The Grand Prize winner will receive a Tamron 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD telephotos lens valued at $799 compatible with Cannon and Nikon cameras (or a 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD lens valued at $499 for Sony cameras).

Judges

• All entries will be viewed by professional photographers selected by Milford Photo.
• Winners will be announced and notified no later than April 15, 2021. 

Winning photos will be highlighted on Connecticut Audubon Society and Milford Photo websites.

2022 Calendar:
With the submitter’s permission, winning photos will be featured in a 2022 calendar that will be sold to support the Coastal Center.

Viewing Dates: Tues/Thurs 10AM-4PM, Wed/Fri, 12PM-4 PM

Reception: Thursday, May 11th, 5:30-7:00 PM

Receiving:  Friday, April 28^th from 12PM-4PM & Saturday, April 29th from 10AM-12PM

Artist Entry Fee:  $10 per entry. 1-3 pieces per artist accepted

Art Pick Up: Friday, June 23^rd from 12PM-4PM, or Saturday, June 24^th from 10AM-12PM

Theme: The Milford Arts Council and Milford Photo are pleased to announce Milford Photo Expo 2017. Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work to this open themed show. All photographic mediums, styles and processes are welcome. Milford Photo will offer 10% off framing for pieces being submitted in the show. Artist Eligibility:

Only original, recent work will be accepted.

All work must be properly framed and wired for hanging or will not be received.

Items must not to be smaller than 8” x 10” or exceed 16” x 20” framed/outside dimension.

Meredith Images Presents: Creative Photography Conference 

So what are you all doing May 20th and 21st?  I would double check your plans because one of our good friends from the Greater Bridgeport Camera Club is hosting a wonderful photography conference.  You all know Hazel Meredith.  Aside from judging many of our competitions she’s also done several programs for us ranging from texture overlays to plugins and even Adobe Lightroom.  Maybe some of you have seen her in Amherst at the NECCC Conference where she also has done many programs. But if you haven’t had the pleasure of attending one of her programs don’t worry because those of us that have will attest to the fact that they are fantastic and this is great opportunity to see her speak.
